Wood Corrosion

For many years, customers have been sending wooden furniture to us for stainless steel cladding.

This year however, we have met with several cases where the wood is venting acid. The acid emitted by the wood corroded our 304 and 316 grade stainless steel. In this case as pictured, the acid emitted from the inside of the wooden leg has corroded the stainless steel cladding panels.

To prevent re-occurrence, we are now redoing the table leg with steel and aluminium structure as we can control all aspects including the adhesives used.

Since 2 years ago, we have started to avoid using wood as a support structure for certain products, beginning with kitchen cabinets, for sustainability and durability.
